"Love is the energy of life." Robert Browning
I believe everyone is beautiful, and it's my job to capture it. I am in love with what I do, because I get to capture so many magical moments in life, & in a way people can enjoy for generations to come. It's a job I take very seriously, but I definitely don't take myself too seriously! I must admit my career choice is a little selfish... I love to share in others' joy, & I get a small high the moment my clients first see their images. Seeing how excited they are keeps me motivated to keep doing what I'm doing, and I don't think that feeling will ever get old.
Though my military family moved to Dublin, GA when I was 7, I'm originally from the Philippines where Chey to Cheryl is like Jim to James... it seems to really trip up some people, but I promise you I'll answer to either! I never really felt like a "Cheryl," so when my sister started calling me "Chey-Chey" a few years back, it stuck!
I love a lot of things... topping the list is God, my amazing supportive husband, our little girl who has been yodeling since she turned one, our super-giggly baby boy who I can tell will always be "the baby" even when he's much, much older, and our two sweet dogs. I also love our new home in Sharpsburg, GA where we just moved to from Senoia, GA. It's not far from where we were, but the kids have a lot more space to run around, swim, and I now have a space for a legit indoor studio as well as outdoor setups!
As for the boring stuff, I started my photography career in 2006. My style has its roots in Telecommunication Arts/Journalism, which is what I studied at the University of GA. I also worked for a local television station as a reporter, editor, camera person, and anchor, which taught me many aspects of telling a visual story. Even more importantly, I was so lucky to have the very talented photographers Linda Edmonds, Dwight Flegel, and Shanci Robinson take me under their wings & teach me over the years.
Thank you for showing interest in my work & my life! I'll leave you with a quote that perfectly describes what photography does for me, and what I hope my work can do for you...
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts, and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever." The Notebook
